 The Mission of the Franklin County Schools Technology Department is to provide technology leadership and quality support that is conducive to a positive learning environment.

 

STAFF:

 

Alan Clark, Chief Technology Officer

has been the Chief Technology Officer for Franklin County Schools since February 1, 2006. Prior to this position, he served as the Director of Technology and Media Services for the Dunwoody Campus of Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta from 2001 to 2006, was the Technology Director for a private school in Chattanooga from 2000-2001, where he also worked as a technology consultant for schools and universities in his own company, Instructional Technology Mentors (ITM). He taught and coached in the Rutherford County School System for nine years before departing for a career in the military, where he spent 21 years on Active Duty with the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and finished his military career as Director of Regional Schools coordination for the Southeast Region of the Army School System in Training and Doctrine Command. He holds B.S. and M.Ed. degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as well as several technical certifications in networking and automatic data processing, and is a Dell-certified technician.

  

Jody Starnes, Administrative Assistant

has been a Franklin County Schools employee for 19 years in various capacities, the last seven years as the Administrative Assistant in the Technology Department. Jody handles all requests for purchases, the e-Rate Federal funding program, co-ordinates for shipping and receiving technology items, works with schools on the Technology in Education Survey System (TESS), keeps up with the Technology Department’s budget, handles telecommunications requests, software licensing, and is our expert on QuickBooks software. She has just added Fixed Assets to her resume, keeping track of almost 50,000 items owned by the FCBOE at each school site and the Central Office. Jody has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Relations and Management from Trevecca Nazarene University.

 

Ed Land, Systems Support Specialist

joined Franklin County Schools as a System Support Specialist in February 2006 following a military career that included service in Information Security and Networking. He is A+ certified, Dell certified, Network certified, and holds a B.S. in Administrative Science from the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

 

Hal Hill, Computer Technician

has been a Computer Technician for Franklin County Schools since June 2006. Prior to that, he was a Winchester City Policeman for 13 years, following a term as a Fire Control Specialist in the U.S. Air Force. He is a Dell-certified technician and a networking and Microsoft Vista specialist. He has completed A+ Networking and Technician courses.

 

Brandon Mosley, Computer Technician

has served Franklin County Schools as a Computer Technician since August 2002. He holds an Associate of Science in General Studies degree from Motlow State Community College and has completed coursework in the A+ certification program. He is well-known and loved throughout the school system as the man who can “get things done.” Brandon provided assistance to Librarians during the transition to the Atriuum Library Management System.

 

Dale Tigue, Computer Technician

joined Franklin County Schools as a Computer Technician in April 2001, and is our most experienced technician. He is A+ certified and Network+ certified and holds diplomas in Networking Specialist and Microcomputer Specialist from Tennessee Technology Training Center in Shelbyville. In addition to his duties as Computer Tech, Dale oversees the Cafeteria Management Program for the schools.

Libby Yates, Computer Technician

has been a Computer Technician for Franklin County Schools since June 2006. Prior to coming to Franklin County, she was in the Tullahoma City Schools for 12 years as a Computer Technician and Attendance Secretary. She is a Dell-certified technician and has completed coursework for the A+ certification in Networking and Technician. Libby also tests and evaluates new hardware and software for potential purchase and use in the schools, and coordinates the return program for 3Com switches and Dell Warranty Direct. Libby was Project Manager for the Clark Memorial internal connections installation and the Renaissance Learning Enterprise installation at elementary schools.
 

WHERE TO SEE US...
We have delegated support responsibilities amongst the staff: While Jody provides our base of support at the Central Office, you will see Ed Land at FCHS and anywhere else that systems support may be needed.  Hal Hill works at FCHS, Broadview, and Huntland. Dale works the north end of the county at North Middle, North Lake, Decherd, and Rock Creek, as well as FCHS.  Brandon's area is Sewanee, Cowan, South Middle, and Townsend. Libby handles the Central Office, Special Services, Clark Memorial, and is sometimes seen at Decherd.  All of these staff members with Dr. Clark urge you to say "hello," but send us your work requests via the computerized request system available anywhere you can access the net at www.login.bigwebapps.com !
WHAT WE SUPPORT...
FCBOE-owned computers, monitors, projectors, servers, networking switches, cable and printers... management products such as Deep Freeze, Symantec anti-virus, Atriuum Library Systems, PLATO, and other learning software.  Our Internet Service Provider (ISP) is Education Networks of America (ENA), who provides us with access to the world wide web and runs the exchange server that provides you with e-mail service.  We refer all problems with network service outside your schools and e-mail to their helpdesk at 1-888-612-2880. With 5 computer technicians and over 2,000 computers in Franklin County Schools, each tech is supporting an average of 400 computers, plus the variety of multi-media and software you use in your classrooms and offices!!
